WHO: Nico di Angelo and OPEN WHAT: Getting his powers back! WHEN: About 1am, Sunday morning WHERE: Around, finally ending up in the hospital WARNINGS: Possible talk of death STATUS: Open/Ongoing
Nico had been wandering the dark streets because he liked the dark. There was something peaceful in it, something still and calm. When he had been a very little boy, he had feared the dark, but since Bianca's death, and his sojourns into the underworld, he had changed his opinion on it entirely. Darkness was not full of fear, but full of comfort. It was a heavy, leaden thing, like a blanket, that covered you from the world and its judgements. In the darkness, you could cry for your sister with nobody to make fun. In the darkness, you could be alone, in control, strong, whatever you wanted to be. True, there were monsters in the dark, but most of them were under his control anyway, and Nico had long since lost his fear of death.
So nighttime, although not completely dark (certainly not as dark as the Underworld), leant him a feeling of peace that he had not had in several weeks.
That was, until it hit him. It, they, whatever one wanted to call them. At a little after 1am, he was nearly knocked to his knees by the feelings of death. People had died here, and while this dimension was too removed from his Underworld to feel them facing judgement, he could feel their deaths, feel the tearing of their spirits from their bodies, and the signature release of energy and grief that accompanied it. He had never realized how strange that felt. He had been able to feel it all of his life, and not until he had lost it and regained it had he realized how it truly felt.
Nonetheless, he smiled. Death was inevitable, and natural. Those alive might grieve for those they had lost, but death in itself was not a tragic thing. It was nature, being nature. Only fear and ignorance had turned it into an evil thing. And he could sense it again. He could feel it. He had his powers back!
He was supposed to be at the hospital. He had told the elf he would be there, and he was certain that he was overdo. Well, it would be as good a time as any to make sure that his powers were working again. With a grin, he disappeared into the shadows and a half a second later, he arrived in the hallway of the hospital with a rush of deathly cold air brushing anyone near him with his icy fingertips. He could shadow travel again! Looking for the nearest person he could find, he took a step towards them.
