Faramir was thoughtful as he closed the distance between the city proper and Meduseld. He had been there several times already, helping them to move their things, and prepare the place to be lived in. He had actually never seen the Golden Hall of Rohirrim before it arrived here, and it fascinated him. The Rohirrim were so alike to them in honor and bravery, and yet so different in wisdom and basic living. Their hall was rather shocking to him, lacking as it did beds, rooms, and so many of the things that Gondor considered necessary for a basic modicum of civilization. And yet, the Rohirrim were far from being uncivilized. It was a different culture, beautiful in its own right, but very foreign to one who had been raised among the highest classes of Gondor.
His errand at Meduseld had his stomach turning. His discussion with Éomer had simply confirmed his own thoughts as to what he should do. It was the right thing, to tell her. But as a man, and a man who loved her, he feared it with every ounce of his being.
In Gondor, during the war, they had been thrust together by circumstance and in her he had found hope, and returned it to her as he could. Their love had grown against the Darkness in the east, and had been almost a protest against the misery of the Shadow. But here...there was no Shadow here. And he wondered if in different circumstances, she would have chosen him at all. And what would he do if she said she was not interested? Obviously he would bow out and let her be - he would not pressure her. But the path of his heart was a different matter.
He reached the front gate, and took a deep breath, climbing the stairs to the Hall proper, and knocking rather loudly on the door before stepping inside and calling out his arrival.
"Lady Éowyn? Lord Éomer?"
