His ears stooped in uncertainty and he looked at her with sorrow and confusion in his eyes, "Nay! I am not your lord. Do not call me that, Elenwë. We are not so estranged that I demand it of you. Ever am I Sarafinwë! There need be no further barrier between us, please I beg you!" he pleaded, bringing her hands to his lips. "It is only for a short while, I promise you. It is all so strange and sudden and I must only.. only get used to the idea."
Turgon paused, "I will not abandon you. Never fear it, Nyara, it will not come to pass." He pulled her close again, hugging her tight in his arms even as his heart broke for her. How selfish it was! He must be wounding her and yet.. yet he knew that if he went home with her now it would be more difficult than either of them could imagine.
He did not know her and she did not know him, and forced to pick up the pieces she would be endlessly disappointed or surprised by his actions. How changed he was! He did not want to see her angered, confused or hurt by him any more than he must.
