Who? Gatsby & Eames.
Where? Gatsby's apartment.
When? Yesterday, after his net post.
What? Tea and chocolate.
Rating? Low, I think.
Status? Closed, ongoing. Nick can have a cameo if he likes.
When Gatsby invited someone for tea, he didn't simply mean that he would put the kettle on and give them a mug. No, for goodness sake, he was a gentleman. Once he knew that Eames was going to join him, Gatsby had gathered up the eggs that were trailed across the apartment and placed them in a basket in the centre of the table. In case Eames wanted to eat something more than just chocolate, Gatsby had prepared some sandwiches, some cake- it didn't look a bad spread for someone who was more used to these things being prepared for him.
Cups, saucers, spoons were arranged. Sugar and milk. A teapot, of course. Was it all right? He found himself strangely nervous about it, inviting someone else into his new home. As lovely as everyone had seemed at the party, and despite how well he'd got on with Eames over the network, he couldn't help but feel anxious. There was still that feeling of putting on a show, presenting himself for acceptance. He knew that it was unnecessary, but it was a difficult habit to break.
Even as he waited for Eames to arrive, he was fussing with the setting, straightening his tie, fixing his cuffs, flattening his hair- simply unable to keep still.
