Marian wasn't sure what to think. By the second month on the train she was back on schedule. Here it was now going on three months. Robin was dead, for all intent and purpose, and if her suspicions were right, she was pregnant. She hadn't a friend in the world, it seemed. She should be elated, really. There was hardly a hope that she'd ever be a mother in Nottingham. Not with all the turmoil. But it was hard to be happy about something with no one to share it with. Sitting in the waiting room, turning her engagement ring, Robin's mother's ring, it was hard to be happy about the possibility. She still held out hope that he would possibly return. Even if it was without his memories of the train she would be happy. Even if she would have to explain to him how she became pregnant with his child, she would be happy. But it was just hard to be so, in that moment. |
