Curufin hadn't kept track of the days since he'd arrived here, but he knew already that there had been too many. It wasn't that he wanted to go back to the Halls of Mandos - but staying in this place surrounded by Men wasn't particularly appealing either. There were so many men in this place, and despite his strong distaste for the Second Born, it also made him feel...lonely. Not that he'd admit that to anyone in the world, but of those who were here, on Túrin Turambar even knew who he was, and that was deeply troubling to him. Were there so few Elves left in the world now that they should be drawn here in such small numbers? He felt like he were guarding a nursery of smelly, impetuous little monsters who lacked talent in anything but stupidity and getting themselves killed.
He leaned against a tree, placing his hand against the trunk of the tree. He could feel its life, but it was deeply asleep, even though it was still young. If it had a voice, it was a very quiet one. For a moment, he wondered if he could awaken it, bring out its voice. But there was no purpose, not here, and with an annoyed sneer he slid to a sitting position with his back against it, resting his arms around his knees.
He pulled out his phone, looking at the network to see if he would be able to torment Túrin once more, but unfortunately, the little Mortal had not posted recently. It was a shame. He was an easy mark; Curufin didn't even have to dig for things to insult him with.
With a sigh, he leaned his head back against the tree and closed his eyes, wondering if this was what Mandos had truly meant by their doom - this torture and punishment of being trapped on an island surrounded by nothing but Men.
