Sherlock knew that John would be bordering on a little bit irked to know that he was in the hospital when so many people were currently sick with some kind of plague. Of course it was rather risky, but Sherlock had every faith in himself. Plus, if anyone had cared to notice, the people who were showing less or no symptoms were the people who had been on the train, the people who had had the vaccine when they'd arrived in the hellish place with the walking dead. Which meant that Sherlock should be fine. And it was this that he knew was going to be the key in finding some kind of protection, prevention, possibly cure-
He'd already isolated the necessary antibodies in his own blood, and it had taken perhaps a day and a half for him to be satisfied that he had got it right. A day and a half felt like a long time, though. Usually he and science were done with each other within a few hours, but today he was lagging slightly.
He had a coffee. He hadn't had coffee for a while now, but it was only one. It'd be fine. But the caffeine was perhaps a little more than he was ready for, so by the time he was done, by the time he had filled up one of his syringes he was buzzing with happiness and the unexpected chemical rush he hadn't achieved in a very long time, having always had caffeine in his bloodsream-
"John!" Sherlock scampered through the hospital to find his husband, coffee in one hand, syringe in the other. A lot of people had already succumbed to the virus and there was nothing he could do for them, but he knew that Malcolm was still hanging on, and he knew that this would help him. He just knew. And it would help everyone else, everyone who wasn't sick. Granted, it might take a little while to work, but it would work.
"John! John I've done it! I've found the....thing. Vaccine? Whatever you want to call it! Where's Malcolm?"
