Kishan had been unable to sleep in his bed since finding John dead in their apartment. Fortunately having a tiger form meant that it was easy for him to sleep outside. He often wandered the forest at night, occasionally hunting down some small game for dinner. It was morning this time, though, and he was starting to get tired of meat. He'd heard that there was a farm near by so he decided to take a look and see what vegetables he could find. In his tiger form, he slowly sidled out of the trees, all sleek and catlike, not wanting to startle anyone as he looked around for some fruit or some carrots or something. Applejack couldn't stay inside another day. She had to get out of the tower. She was starting to feel like Reponyzel. Except her hair wasn't all that long. So while Tony was off tinkering in his lab, or whatever he was doing, Aj decided it was time to go see her beloved farm. How she missed it! She hated leaving Ben to tend to it on his own. It made her feel like she was slacking off and that just wasn't something she did. She was not a slacker. Traveling between the rows of growing vegitation, she stroked each with a tender caress. She also checked on the new growth. Marking which would need to be moved, and which were good where they stood. Applejack came to a stand still when she spotted the black tiger. Eyes wide, she was pretty much paralized where she stood. Kishan stopped as soon as he noticed the scent of the woman approaching. He certainly had no intention of harming her but most people reacted with fear when seeing a big, black tiger heading in their direction. After a moment he started to move very slowly toward her. He was careful not to make any sudden movements. When he finally got to where she was standing, he lay down at her feet, looking up at her with his big, golden eyes. Almost like a dog waiting to be petted by its master. Applejack wasn't entirely sure what to do when the very large, rather intimidating, feline moved toward her. Sure it could out run her if she ran. Sure that if it wanted to it could pounce her where she stood. Why had she gone out again? When he lay down at her feet her eyes grew wider than they had been, if that was at all possible. Now she really had no idea what to do. She'd never had a giant cat lay at her feet before. "Uh, good kitty?" Her voice broke a little, nerves shining through She wasn't exactly sure she was a cat person to begin with. Winona was the only pet she'd ever had. Kishan just blinked his big golden eyes up at her before he started to lick at his front paws. He was actually having fun at the moment, even if it was a bit evil. "Goood kitty." Applejack began to slowly back away. Her hands up, showing that she had nothing in them. She was doing good until the boot of her cast caught on a root and she fell backward. "Son of a horseraddish!" As soon as AJ fell back, Kishan quickly shifted into his human form and came over to her, kneeling beside her. "Are you alright?" Okay that was really something to boggle the mind. Was she seeing things? No. Couldn't be. "Yeah I'm fine. Just peachy. Were you really just a big black Tiger just now, or am I losing my mind?" She had been trapped indoors for a while. Maybe it was lack of... something that caused her to see things. Kishan smiled softly. "I was a tiger. I'm a shifter. I believe that's how Maryanne put it." He stood up and offered a hand. "I'm sorry I startled you." Applejack slipped her hand into his and used it for leverage. Standing with a little more tug to his arm than she would have liked. "Oh, well I guess that makes me not so crazy then." She added with a slightly embarrassed chuckle. Kishan didn't mind the extra pull and made sure she was steady on her feet before letting go of her hand. "You're not so crazy." He smiled brightly. "This is a wonderful farm. Is it yours?" "Well not so much mine as it belongs to everybody on the island. I just run it." No the only thing she could positively call hers was probably Tony. The rest was a give take situation. And maybe her clothes. She wasn't so sure that anyone else would want to wear what was hers. "Ah." Kishan nodded. "That's good. I would hate to have pilfered someone's property." He chuckled softly. "I was looking for a snack that was not of the meat variety." "Oh, well there's not much ready. But if you don't mind green tomatoes there are a few that are big enough to eat." Aj's eyes went to the trees that she'd moved onto the farm. "There may be a few not so ripe fruits in the trees too. But I can't tell you which 'less I get I get a better look" Kishan sighed a little. "I guess I will have to venture into town then, if I wish for a salad of some kind." He chuckled. "Though fried green tomatoes are very delicious." "Yeah Maryanne's place has a full stock of flash frozen veggies. All she's gotta do is thaw 'em out and they're good to eat." Aj knew it wasn't like eating fresh, but it was better than nothing at all. "I'll definitely keep that in mind." He nodded. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your leg?" Applejack chewed her lower lip, glancing down at the rather large cast. "I knocked down a tree, it was a little to much on my leg." She hoped she wouldn't have to get into the 'why' because it wasn't something she was entirely proud of. "You....knocked down a tree." Kishan looked her up and down, sizing her up a bit. "That's rather impressive, even if you did hurt yourself." A blush ran over her cheeks and she nodded briefly. "I wasn't able to knock it all the way down. It was kinda hangin' on by a few roots before I could finish." Aj chewed her lower lip. "That's still impressive." He nodded. "I wouldn't imagine you would have that kind of strength just by looking at you." "Er, thanks?" She wasn't quite sure what to say to a complement like that. She didn't see it as a hidden tallent or anything, it was just something she could do. She'd always been able to. Well since she was big enough to anyway. Kishan laughed softly. "You've done a very good job with this farm miss....." He blushed slightly. "I'm very sorry. I must apologize that I did not introduce myself. And thereby did not get your name as well." He stood back and bowed grandly to her. "I am Sohan Kishan Rajaram. Second prince of the Mujulaain province." Aj's eyes widened ever so slightly. She was standing in front of royalty and gone and forgot her manners. Removing her hat she crossed her ankles and dipped real low. Like she would have if she were standing in front of Princess Celestia, had she been a pony. "I'm pleased to meet you Your Majesty. I'm Applejack Apple. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Kishan nodded, appreciative of the formal greeting. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, but please, call me Kishan." "Well Kishan, you can call me Aj. Make's things simpler." Placing her hat back on her head she smiled broadly at him. "I can do that, AJ." He smiled. "So, do you run this farm all by yourself?" "Nah, there's a fella that goes by Ben Hawkins that's been helpin' me out since he got here. Since I wasn't able to do a whole lot cause of my leg and all." She ran her fingers through her hair. "I've been kinda stayin' indoors since it happened. Which is a bit of a good thing, everybody gettin' sick and all." Kishan nodded and sighed. "My roommate recently succumbed to the illness." "I'm sorry to hear that. My brother got it, but fortunately he's coming out of it." She was sure his never got as bad as some. "That is very fortunate." Kishan nodded. "So your brother is here then?" "Yep, but it's just me and him from.. er, where we're from." Which was to say they were ponies, but that wasn't something you just blurted out to a prince. "I'm afraid that my brother isn't here. Though if he were there would be two rather large tigers running around the island." He chuckled softly. "Oh? He's a shapeshifter too?" That brought her eyebrows up just a little. "Er, Me and Macintosh were Ponies." Well that wasn't awkward at all, the way she just blurted it out. Her hand came up to wipe over her face. "Dhiren and I were both cursed. We thought that the curse was our tiger form but it turned out that the gods intervened. We became tigers so the curse would not effect us." He smiled. Applejack tilted her head just a little. "What was the curse supposed to do?" She couldn't see becoming a beautiful dark furred tiger as a curse. But then she wasn't the one that was stuck doing it either. "It was supposed to put us under the control of a very evil man." He sighed. "Well, it was supposed to put Dhiren under the curse. But it was a blood curse and since we are brothers...." He ran his fingers through his hair. "Well geewiz, I'm mighty glad someone found a way out of it for ya." She knew what it was like th bue under the control of a very evil fella. Discord had made her do things that weren't things she'd do at all. "We are working to break the curse that made us tigers. But then I was brought here." He sighed, then looked around before looking at AJ again. "And my friends have recently been lost to this illness. I have...." He closed his eyes for just a moment. "No one left." |
