The sound of Elena's voice pulled the brunette from her thoughts and she looked up. Instantly, that classic, askew grin fell on Bonnie's face and she quickly covered the distance between them. As soon as she was close enough, the witch pulled the other teenager into a tight hug. They'd talked over the network a few times, but it wasn't until Bonnie had her best friend in her embrace, the other woman's scent overwhelming her senses, did she finally believe Elena was okay. "God, Elena...it's been forever. Or it feels like it anyway," she murmured, adding in another squeeze before reluctantly releasing her. "I'm sorry I haven't talked to you much or anyone really. Then this jail thing happened and-" Bonnie broke off. It was all lame excuses and she knew it. "It doesn't matter. I should have still reached out to you and I didn't. I'm so sorry, Elena."
Perhaps it hadn't been so important, especially with Damon able to protect Elena when Bonnie couldn't, but it bothered Bonnie to think she'd neglected Elena...any of them. Then, Jeremy had come back into her life and she found herself giving him a second chance. It was something she never thought she would ever do or could ever do. In the wake of that and the jail escapade, Bonnie hadn't had much of a chance to do anything else or see anyone. It didn't matter. She was remedying it now. Hopefully, it wasn't too late.
