Since his case, and not the decoy case, had shown up the morning after his arrival, Newt was feeling a lot less miserable about this strange turn of events. He knew that young Sirius and his grandfather considered this place to be some sort of dark curse, and at first Newt had suspected that Grindelwald might have had something to do with it. But after seeing the range of people, the times they came from, the worlds they came from... no, the selection was too random for it to be his doing.
So, he might as well make himself useful while he was resident. Consider it a research trip, he was no stranger to that. He'd headed along to the agreed location, suitcase in hand. He wasn't going to be letting that out of his sight in a hurry again.
The elevator doors opened, and Newt positively beamed at the beautiful creatures that stepped out.
"Oh, hello! Aren't you a beauty!" he exclaimed to the eager wolf, holding out the back of a hand for her to catch his scent. "And so are you, shy friend," he addressed the second wolf as well. Of course he would speak to the wolves before even considering the human they had brought along with them.
