Who? Hamilton & Dinner party guests Where? Hamilton residence, wheel 3 When? Saturday evening What? Party time! Open? No
Since Philip had arrived, Hamilton had made a move into a more family friendly home, near to the office and the school for convenience. A fair amount of their belongings had arrived with them, leaving the 21st century house looking like a world of contradictions. Alexander was not overly resistant to modern technology, but the station was full of bright lights and strange noises and electronics, he appreciated being able to come home to something more familiar and peaceful. It helped Philip, too.
So, when his guests walked in, they might feel a little like they were stepping back in time. At least until they looked a little closer, and realised that the ambient light was set by the station and not real daylight, the era appropriate music was of course a recording coming through wireless speakers, and of course the tableware was all what had come with the house, not something that had appeared from his own world.
His guests may have also been surprised to find that it was a very relaxed, informal sort of affair. There was plenty of drink, non-alcoholic and also wine, beer, and rum punch. Food was served family style, with guests invited to help themselves and pass it along. There was a whole range of creole dishes to try, and it was clear that he and Philip had been very busy making corn on the cob, steamed broccoli, mixed beans, fish curry, dirty rice, shrimp jambalaya, jerk chicken skewers, glazed chicken wings... and for desert, nothing but ice cream would satisfy Philip, who was pleased to announce that there are flavour options here, ladies and gentleman, and you are even allowed to mix the flavours together, would you believe it?
After dinner, there would be no separation of ladies and gents expected at all, but Philip would go upstairs to his room. Everyone could stay and chat and drink as long as they pleased.
