She was still angry, she didn't know why, but it wasn't an emotion she could simply let go. She hadn't been this angry since Parnel had been on the island. And then she'd had Clint, and hunting to get rid of the energy. Now she had neither. And it was also laced with guilt. Partially because Mrs Hale was gone, and a resolution had never come to be, and Arcturus had depended on her to watch Sirius. She didn't deserve release. She deserved to have the anger boil and fester. But, she needed to let it go at least a little. So she wouldn't explode at someone who didn't deserve it. So Maryanne did the third best thing she could think of. She dressed like she was going to perform, simply because she hadn't done it in a very very long time. She wore the burgundy dress she had worn to the party the elves had hosted, it had a sweetheart neckline, and it hugged her figure all the way down to her hips, where the skirt flared, a split down from the middle, trimmed in silver thread, and white lace. Simple silver flats adorned her feet. Her makeup was tasteful, her lashes lined with a wing, her lips the same shade of red as her dress. Her hair was pinned up, with little curls that had refused to be pinned escaping here and there. She felt prettier than she had in a long while. And it was just for her own sake. She sat on the bench before the large black grand piano, the skirt to her dress forced back over the bench, so that her legs were free, and bare. Allowing her feet to move over the petals unhindered, as her fingers moved over the keys. She played every single song she had ever played, without the sheet music. With intent to go over everything she knew until she had exhausted the anger out of her. |
