"You're very welcome," Miguel replied with a smile. He remembered when he was a kid, and his abuela kept getting him to take all kinds of things like fish oil and weird smoothies full of whatever vegetables Tio 'berto had managed to grow, and they were gross but he still took them because they'd help to make him strong and it made abuela happy. It wasn't until years later that he'd realized that they were her attempts to try and help with things back at home. Still, that was nothing to do with what was going on now, so he shoved it to one side.
He opened the box, and showed Sirius the two little bottles inside, both of them containing no more than two mouthfuls of liquid each. The one that he lifted out was an oval shape, and the liquid inside was a deep red, almost purple. Every so often, a shimmer passed through it, and the purple became more pronounced for a couple of seconds afterwards. "Take this one first. You can take it now, if you want," he said to Sirius, "and then this second one has to be taken along with a meal so maybe with your dinner or supper or tomorrow morning with breakfast, but no later than that. This one goes first because all the different bits in it need to settle into your stomach to start working and that'll take a bit of time. And then the second one gives everything a bit of a boost and strengthens the effects."
The second potion, in a tall rectangular bottle, was a not-unpleasant green and yellow, bright like springtime rather than something disgusting. It didn't have a shimmer like the other potion, the two colors just swirled round each other constantly. Not unlike the crystal Miguel wore round his neck, where the deep blue color of his magic still swirled round the pink of Sarah's.
