Robert nodded along, concentrating as if this were completely vital information to be getting at this exact moment. Because who knew? Maybe it was. He wrote the name of the language down phonetically for himself, as best as he could.
"Thank you. No wonder I couldn't figure it out," he sighed softly, and tucked the notebook away again. Then he frowned just a little. "The most common, huh? That suggests... there are multiple languages in this area of space? So, are we in... what, a different galaxy?" he asked. Humanity had barely scratched the surface of space exploration, and so he felt like he didn't even have the vocabulary to communicate effectively about it.
"That's amazing. I didn't... I mean, I always assumed it was just a myth," he admitted with a shrug. He got the feeling he was going to be saying that a lot, and that many of his assumptions were about to be blown out of the water.
Robert listened carefully to what Tommy had to say about this place, and really it kind of did help. He could think of it like break, some breathing space... but then a sudden anxiety set in. This all sounded far too familiar.
"A place between heaven and... oh, shit," he muttered, mostly to himself. Mal'akh must've done the same thing to him. No doubt he was actually in a flotation tank out of it on Ketamine.
"Yeah. I get it," he said with a sort of miserable resignation. He didn't get it at all.
