"You could turn off your lights for the day, or change them to black, and paint your face like a skull." Maria suggested, thinking of what little she knew about the holiday. "A skull with red eyes would be very festive." She paused and added. "At least I think it would. We can always look up Dia de los Muertos." She was serious about that last part. They could even have their own celebration in February on the station. Assuming he'd want to and it wouldn't make him miss his grandmother too much.
Maria smiled at him again, hoping it would help him relax. She'd done a similar thing occasionally in the past, signing about a topic the interested her so much that she forgot to find out if the person she was around knew sign language. It might have been part of why she had become a bit of recluse in her time, choosing gadgets over people.
"A good trip and a fun trip." Maria nodded about her hair. "It probably will. Not as drastically as when the station decides to change my hair colour overnight. Just a little lighter. Kind of like highlights."
