He was awake almost instantly, eyes wide with confusion as he stared round the room. Long years of practice in Dreamshare meant that he had learnt how to keep his body calm as he woke up, no matter the circumstances. His mind was free to flail about as much as he wanted, and he had no idea where he was for the first few seconds. And then he saw Arthur, and he relaxed.
"um," he said intelligently, then brought his hand up to scratch at his chest, still moving clumsily. When he pulled his fingers away and looked down at them, he was very glad to see that no black shadowstuff came away with them. He did notice the dirt in the water, though, and grimaced. "Bloody hell... lying in my own filth."
