"Finally." Jessica sighed, holding at his neck just a second longer to be sure he was out before she eased him down to the ground. She tore off his ruined pant leg and tied it tight around the wound as best she could. It didn't stop the bleeding, but slowed it down. She was careful to watch his breathing even as she pulled out her phone. She doubted he'd be waking up on his own anytime soon, but she wasn't sure.
She sent out her message and sat back on the ground next to him, her body still tensed and ready to fight if he showed the slightest sense of movement. The area around them was decimated, covered in blood and a few dropped feathers. Jessica had tucked the wings back against herself as best as she could but the bad one sat at a not-quite-right angle, her face and hands and clothes covered in blood as well, some hers some his. Even her blood-soaked phone was just dropped on the ground next to her.
"What the hell happened to you?" she found herself asking in the sudden quiet as she waited for help.
