Really? Annie thought as Loki punched at the shadow, his fist flying through thin air in front of it, and caught his balance. She fought the urge to shake her head and sigh and simply responded with; "Indeed." mimicking the same dry tone Loki adopted for his own observation.
Annie's frustration, however, quickly replaced itself with fear and began to rapidly approach panic. The shadow now began to move into the room, as though a physical form, impossible to make the edges out in the darkness as her eyes tried to compensate for the underground and Loki's glimmering green light. Even the God backed off with wide eyes which did nothing to calm her nerves and then all of a sudden he seemed to expire. Loki was a ghost, and having never seen him go quite this far in his own 'death', she was convinced this... "shadow creature" had exacted some form of revenge on her uneasy ally.
It took her a few nano-seconds to formulate and plan her response. Annie was an Operative with near centuries of experience, an officer of the Ministry of War, a DarkFinder and a decorated scientist. She drew on every strength. Her body slowed it's "breathing" to 5 second intervals, subconsciously fighting her fear response, allowing her to rationalise her next thoughts. She fought the urge to lock the trigger on her rifle, they weren't at that stage yet and still needed answers. Loki likely had an answer for dying, he was an arrogant shit, he wouldn't die in a dark place like this with her. There was no spectacle. Instead, she reached her forward hand's index finger up to the torch grip again and flicked the light from IR to Strobe. The creature was made of darkness, she thought, why not fight it with light.
The attachment on the front of her lightning blasted a rapidly flickering sunburst into the room, which she pointed directly at the creature.
