Katherine contemplated how best to answer her son. She tried to look down on him but there wasn't much of an angle left. Not long, and he would be taller than her. "No, you won't." She gave him a kiss on the forehead. "This is why you are being taught the basics of magic. It might be a frustrating trial and it might seem that there is still a lot that separates you from the veterans." She knew that feeling so well. Her days were often filled with training and yet, her progress seemed so slow. "But it is a long journey to master the arts of self-defence. We will teach you, you will have some of the most remarkable teachers in the universe, but it takes patience and until then, we will be there to protect you." Maybe it was not wise to teach a teenager the things she intended to teach him. But she did not care about wise. Too many dangers lurked in their world. Katherine couldn't always protect him.
