Re: Abra, Dan, Higgs
Higgs looked down at Abra before he leaned down onto his haunches. He took a hand up to his face and waved it, the gold skull melting away into dust as he did so. Abra found herself face to face with the man behind the mask. He looked conflicted, emotional, as though considering how best to explain something very adult to a child. He rubbed the palms of his hands together and took a deep breath, making eye contact with her again. Dan watched all of the faces, those catatonic and blank stares, now bore straight into the back of Higgs' skull. Their eyes filled with anger, they stood stock still and silent, watching the back of his head.
"I feel like you have confused the inception of this little fire. I didn't attack anyone first, but it is a minor detail in a long chain of dominos that lead us here." he began, "You are right, however, that Richie was an ugly detail on my record. The issue with all of this is that I think the majority of the people might continue to appeal to my humanity and ask me to do something moral, like surrender or give up. I'm afraid I won't do that."
"You see," he says, waving his hand over the sand in front of him which forms into a long line of little pillars which snake around in a winding pattern, spaced evenly apart about two inches high. He delicately topples over the first one, sending the line cascading into itself. "I've started this a long time ago leaving a deep mark on everything I've touched. I realised that after 5 cycles of destruction, that there was nothing left afterwards. I had all the power to change, destroy, shape and mould. But never create. All I could do was use what was there."
"It might be wrong to you, or Dan. Perhaps even to some of the less morally inclined like Loki, but I have created something here. Something that will last long after I'm gone, perhaps even after you. You and your friends can stop me, kill me and do all manner of horrible things. I've already won. The real outcome stopped mattering to me as soon as I found what I wanted." He smiles, listening to her voice echo around his beach, taking a deep breath of the "air". "So, with regards to leaving. No... No, I don't think I will." He stands, "Besides, if I do go right now like you want, the people I've swapped won't come back. I'm sure you don't care about that right now, but you might. I'd ruminate on that."
