Dan examined how Abra prepared for this, and copied her. He would have to, after all, if he was to tag along unnoticed.
His anger was useful, for once. But he needed to match Abra. She had hidden her rage away, so Dan did much the same. He couldn't exactly hide it in a lockbox, but it was put into that spot in his mind where he put all the things he'd deal with later. He closed it over, and his mind settled. He still had the resolve he needed, but the fire was banked for now.
Dan then concentrated. Most of his mind tucked itself into Abra's, but enough stayed behind in his body so that he could still speak. Abra had done this while she was at a friend's house, playing board games. Dan didn't even have to pretend to be doing anything. So he could do it. And then Loki and Rhys could use his mind as the bridge to Higgs' mind and they could go do whatever.
"Ready," he said out loud, at the same time as he spoke to Abra. (ready.)
