And then the lights were suddenly too bright for his eyes to cope with. All of them, all round him, and no matter how quickly he moved to cover his eyes or what Lyla tried to do with the controls, they got brighter still. He yelled in pain and curled in on himself as he heard all the lights exploding, but all he could see was continuous endless bright white nothingness and his head ached.
He let himself drop to the ground, landing awkwardly on his side. "Lyla, help," he murmured, and pushed himself up onto his feet. He couldn't see a shocking thing.
