Richie went sprawling, his glasses falling off and cracking in to the ground wherever they landed. There were tears streaming down his face and his breath came in short pants when he looked up at Higgs, the man out of focus but nonetheless menacing in front of him.
"I won't." he whimpered, softer now. "I won't scream, I won't, please." he pleaded trying to pull himself out of the tar, struggling against it. "Don't hurt them." He cried harder and squeezed his eyes shut just so he wouldn't have to look anymore. "I thought we were safe here." he whimpered, still trying to pull his arms from the tar, though he was obviously losing strength already.
