John kept his mental focus on the memories, but he kept his eyes on the room. He kept his senses alert in case they were interrupted, and in the back of his mind, he kept track of a spell he could use to attempt to bind Higgs in place. He was fairly certain that the other man wouldn't show up though. Or he hoped.
When she was finished and withdrew, he relaxed again. He was still in quite a lot of pain after everything that had happened with Higgs but he always did a good job of showing little to none of it.
"Maybe its that lack of connection that made me the ideal target" John replied, picking the cigarette out of the ashtray and relighting it. "He tried to appeal to my humanity. That need to save people. I know a lot about magical objects and things. Maybe he figured I could find it for him" he shrugged, placing the cigarette between his lips.
