The boy crumbled to dust and Higgs followed after. Dan looked all round him once more, and slowly let out the breath he'd been holding once he was sure he was alone. Then he walked over to the spot where Higgs had been kneeling and looked around to see if there was anything left. If there was any residue, it was mixed with the sand and pebbles and Dan couldn't tell the difference.
The waves were no closer, but they were still what made him feel the most nervous, so he picked up a random rock and put it in his pocket, before starting towards the cliffs. He walked in silence, which was unusual for him. Normally, he sang quietly to himself at least some of the time, but this was not a place for songs. Not from him, at least.
