Shepard's gaze shifted back toward the fire. "Look, man, it is taking everything I have just to stand here. I lost my fiance, my children, and my son-in-law. Not to mention the man that talked me into going to meetings. And the only god-damned priest this hell hole had, that could have even come close to explaining-" She closed her eyes when her voice cracked. She had to breathe in and slowly let it out a few times before she regained her composure.
"You're better off asking somebody else. I couldn't begin to help you know who they were, not right now." And if she hadn't been so dead set on standing up, saluting she might have hit him. As it was she could feel the need for a drink clawing at her throat. "I will tell you this, if you care about somebody here, don't waste a day, not a single one. Because they might not be here tomorrow."
