Shannon cocked her head at the advice. There was something he wasn't saying. Could the magic she felt prickling along her skin guard even the flue of the chimney? Interesting. Or it could just be there to keep her from sensing what was off. What was different in a place she didn't know. Kept her instincts to burn the place down and get out, tamped down.
"I didn't know he needed to. Do I need validation from the whoever would listen to his praises of me?" She shrugged. Her gaze went to the only door she could see. "He probably doesn't because he knows of my reclusive nature and enjoyment of privacy. I know where I stand with him, and that's all that matters. Just like he knows where he stands."
A smile slowly grew over her lips. "And that you don't know more than what I just told you, means you aren't on his list. I figured curiosity would have you on there." Why not go for the obvious. Shannon started toward the only door in the place. Figuring the door would likely be locked.
