"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." She said with a shrug. "There are a few universal constants, it seems Atlantis is one of them, all advanced and all incredibly powerful before they are destroyed in one way or another. I'm pretty sure there is more but I think we've got something a little more pressing to deal with." She said, taking in the room and trying to sense any unusual magic about the place. The place made the little hairs on the back of her neck stand up in a way that wasn't so different from the station, but she'd learned her limits there and how to work within them. This place was different and she was going to have to figure it out on the fly. "As for magic though, anyone can learn it. It's a question of will and dedication."
She wasn't completely quoting John there, and not only because there was usually a particular word in there that Americans tended to shy away from, but she also liked to think magic was a bit more of a noble pursuit than he did. Something that was more than a little funny when he would often mock her continued career as a stage magician and illusionist.
Zee pulled the shades back, looking out into the rest of the office just beyond the door, "Was your dad the sentimental type? Your birthday? His birthday? The year he got this office?"
