That was fascinating. Katherine was sure that whatever she was hearing was not what Annie was talking about. It was not an answer on how to fix a broken society. Technology could not do that and she did not talk about it like she had the fate of her universe in mind. There was not much that could get past the shields in her mind. They were created by both her lover and her father. So, it was either a mind-altering magic very much unlike theirs or it was no mind-altering magic at all.
Curiosity grew louder in her head. She had been curious before but this, it beat it by far. So Kat did what she usually did when she wanted to have a quick answer to a complex question, she called her father. All she needed was a quick prayer sent by her mind. A quick explanation and a request. She was disappointed when he had yet to appear when Annie eventually finished.
Katherine was just about to open her mouth when a flicker of green light went through the air a mere few feet next to them. Her body jerked with quick shock as adrenaline rushed through her at the unexpected change in her surroundings. Only that it was not that unexpected. Of course it wasn't. She let out a deep breath as she cursed her father for his knack for dramatic entrances. She could swear he stayed awake at night to come up with scenarios to top his last few. Of course he did not stop with the simple appearance. Almost immediately he started to speak.
"I see your universe prefers to keep your plans a secret," the dead god said with his arms crossed behind his back. If you did not know him well, you could not tell by his mere appearance that he was dead right now. Loki was pale but he was always pale. Against the black of his suit, he looked even more ashen. But for the frost giant it did not mean much. Katherine could tell with one glance though. Simply because she knew what to look for - the lack of chest movements was a giveaway, as were so many other minor details. "What bargain did you strike to be aided by reality itself?" A smirk formed on his lips as his eyes ran up and down Annie's form. It faltered for a second. She could guess why. Pain. The stones brought it with them. For a moment, she felt bad for having called him. Satisfying her curiosity should not bring her father pain. He did not need to go this far. She had not wanted that.
"Tell me, who do they want you to rule?" Kat started to frown. "And who is supposed to accept you like that?" Loki's fingers flickered and for a moment a different side Annie appeared underneath.
