Edward tilted his head so he could look at Jacob when the other man returned. Sighing, he pushed himself forward so he wouldn't be leaning back, reaching to take the glass of water from him. He really didn't want to drink it but he was fairly certain Jacob wasn't going to let it go. Why did it matter so much to Jacob that he drank water? At least he wasn't making scurvy jokes. That was a plus.
"Next time, we'll share a drink and properly" Edward said with a stubborn tone, before taking a long drink from the glass. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and set the near empty glass down on the coffee table.
"And don't worry. I'll get myself to bed" he said, pushing off from the couch to stand up. His legs were still a bit wobbly but he was feeling stubborn and upset. Annoyed and frustrated. Had he been joking with Jacob earlier? And if so, why was he so annoyed by feeling like he had been rejected? Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe he needed to sleep it off, maybe Jacob was right.
