"I don't need water" the pirate said, dismissing the other man with a drunken wave of his hand.
Well that was a bit disappointing. Jacob wasn't interested, was he? The smile vanished from Edwards face as he sat down on the couch to wait for Jacob to return. Edward had taken an interest in Jacob the moment he saw him. He had also taken something of an interest in Bryn but in a different way. Bryn seemed interested in him at least but Jacob? Maybe he wasn't all that interested after all. Maybe Edward had been misreading him.
He slumped back on the couch and leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. He couldn't help but wonder why everything was so hopeless and miserable. His wife was dead, he had a daughter he hadn't known about for years who was now somewhere across the stars, but given their jump in time, was dead already. He had lost so many friends before he had arrived on the station too. It looked like he was out on his luck and that was almost a sobering thought. Almost. He had too much booze in his system for that.
