"You may not become king now and that would be a shame." Jacob nodded, though his smile suggested he was teasing. He could have a great deal of fun with the man if he wished, telling him wild things about the future and never once saying anything true, though there could be cruelty in that. He didn't want to alienate Edward, not when he was likely the only person on the station he could trust completely. He'd want him at his back if things went pear-shaped.
A part of him had been glad that Edward answered and then didn't turn around and ask him about his time with the order. He was dedicated, no question, even if the council didn't always have faith in him to protect London they never had to worry about his loyalty. But he had been born into it, and whatever answers he would have given if asked the same question wouldn't have been anywhere as satisfying, not that he had one in mind. Perhaps it would have required more thought and that was enough to put Jacob off.
"Yes, yes." He downed the rest of his mug and set it down. Maybe it didn't hit him right away he was fairly certain it would by the time he beat Edward. It might make getting down difficult but hopefully the medical technology was just as advanced as whatever the flying boats were. "Are we running from here or did you want to start at the base of the tower?"
