Sir Jacob Frye ([info]derailedatrain) wrote in [info]spinningcompass,
Jacob nearly explained that there were at least a hundred years between them even if there might be less than a handful to look at them, but that died on his tongue as he looked about the place. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting the place to look like, after all he had never been to a pub in the future before, but this was nice even by his usual standards. He wasn't a stickler for decor in the places he drank, but he would be the first to admit that he liked 'nice'.

"No great scandal, I can assure you," he smiled for Bryn, looking her over as much as he was the bar. "The Captain here can be incredibly charming, especially when it comes to fine young ladies. Apparently it is required by his occupation, or at least it is according to all of those novels with dashing sea captains as their heroes. As is his thirst for rum. Isn't that right, Captain?"

He didn't give Edward time to answer and correct him, quickly continuing on as he came to lean his forearms against the bartop. "We were curious about the prices, however. Kind Sophia mentioned that the drinks were gratis, and we were, quite understandably, surprised by that. How does that work? Are we expected to provide a service in exchange?"
