Reacting to his flirtation was certainly the wrong move on her part, but Sophia was saving herself from the worst of his attentions by pushing them on. That was fine, he would certainly see her later and he should be over whatever odd sensation it was that seized him by then. He was already beginning to feel a little better, his heart had certainly calmed and he liked to think his color was slowly returning. As long as she did not ask him about it and he avoided looking out the window again, he was fairly certain he would be just fine.
Jacob gave her a little bow with a flourish as well as wink when Edward said his thanks, hoping that blush would stay on her cheeks for a while after they went their separate ways.
He wasn't sure if Edward was making a show of his height in comparison to Jacob's but he found he didn't mind the arm around him. They were both so far out of their own times that they could be forgiven the physical contact to make sure the other was still real and still close. "In that case, old man," he started with a wide grin. "You had better stick close to me, because the possibility of a chance is much better than having no chance at all."
