The metal pipe flew across the park. It had only taken a couple of stick fetching for Gen to realize that anything wooden would never arrive back at her. Snuffle's firey bite turned wood into smoke and ashes. Pipes lasted longer. If he chewed to long and intensely at them, they became dented too but at least they remained. Snuffles ran out of the bushes and chased after the pipe while Genevieve followed closely behind him. There was a smile on her face. That smile had been there for a while now. She felt light and good. She could better understand Lucy's feeling when she had been with Rohan and Rachel's feeling when she had been with Alex. It was a feeling she had only ever felt through someone else.
Snuffles never reached the pipe. Instead he stood there and stared into the shadows. If was only when he let out a huff that Gen realized the figure that were hidden within it. A jolt ran through her body. As always. Instinct let her reach for her wand. Then she noticed who was standing there and tension ebbed away.
"Oh, it's you. You startled me. Good boy, Snuffles. Well spotted." The hound continued to stare ahead, untouched by the compliment. "Come on, get the pipe." The hound huffed again and smoke escaped his nostrils before he padded over to the pipe and started chewing on it.
