Zee was actually about to say something sweet, though that likely would have upset John even more. This didn't feel like one of the many times where he was looking for excuses to be annoyed or upset. Still, it was good to see him easing up a little, especially when everything around them was so strange.
"Watered-down too." She agreed about the drinks that were on offer, "But that's part of the fun, isn't it? Cheap drinks made expensive by the fun location and the presentation. I remember you once getting very drunk because you wanted to collect all of the sea creature necklaces that came with the drinks at that themed bar in Miami." Since their breakup, their friendship had fallen into a bit of a pattern. They would either run into each other while they were working, possibly even teaming up if they were working on the same thing, and once it was over they would usually go for drinks, spend the night together and then not see each other for weeks or months after that. Or one would go in search of the other for help with whatever it was they were working on at the time, it would often end the same way provided it didn't start with John breaking into her house and trashing her bedroom if she wasn't there. Cleaning up his empty bottles, cigarette butts and vomit, even using magic, tended to put a damper on things. The only redeeming part of that was that he was usually naked when she found him, something about the little tree on his ass always made her laugh.
"That's unsettling." She said heading toward that booth. It wasn't just Diana and Clark on the covers of the comic books, again she recognized a handful of faces among a sea of faces she didn't though they seemed to be presented in similar ways. "I mean, I know Clark okayed the rights to his image for a couple of PSAs. But Diana, she barely okayed her picture on the dustjacket when she published her book. She even suggested to me that I not put myself on the covers of mine."
