The Plan – Everyone who responded to the call for help
“I won’t explain why John decided to go into hell, those of you that know him would know that this sort of thing isn’t unusual for him, if you’re curious after you can try asking him.” Zatanna said after clearing her throat. “The important thing is that his misguided actions have led him to being captured by Nergal, a very powerful demon.”
She waved one hand over the other, causing an image of the horned and red-eyed demon to appear before her.
“He and John have a bloody history and he’s unlikely to willingly give him up now that he has him. I intend to make a deal with him for John but given the way these sorts of things tend to go; I suggest we all be prepared to fight him and his loyal demons. If he has replenished his army I cannot say, but I would suggest that we move as quickly as we can.”
She waved a hand over the image of Nergal, changing it from the demon to the exterior of where John was being kept.
“When we arrive at this building, I need all but three of you to remain outside and cover our escape. If the disturbance we cause inside is big enough it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to stop him from communicating with his lieutenants. Protect the portal I create as best you can, otherwise, we may be forced to leave the long way.”
The image faded and Zatanna looked to each of them, “As for the three I intend to take with me, I would like volunteers who feel they are perhaps particularly close to John. Lovers in particular, if I can be blunt about it. Locating him exactly will be easier if I can follow a strong metaphysical connection. That said, Nergal doesn’t play fair, expect to be tempted and attacked directly if it comes to violence. I will be relying on you to help him while I deal with Nergal.”
She held her hand out, palm up, using her magic to make her top hat appear. With a flick of her wrist she tossed it into the air and leaned forward to catch it atop her head. She brought a hand up to make sure it was firmly in place then ran her fingers across a section of the brim. “So, any questions? Would anyone like to volunteer?”
