WHO: Anyone (all the subthreads encouraged!) WHAT: Party! WHERE: The Cafe WHEN: Friday evening, starting at 7
Bucky had shut the cafe down once the after-school crowd had died down as usual, but instead of going home like he normally would, he'd sent Stephanie off for a night with Mary Ellen and Stevie and their kids and had set about setting up for the party. He was glad the kids had been excited, they needed the chance to feel normal. So many of them had come from such awful things and just being in this place was weird enough on its own. They seemed to like the cafe (Richie especially but Bucky had a feeling that was for some very specific reasons) so he was a little excited himself to give them a comfortable place to have some fun.
He did as he said he would, taking half of the tables and chairs and moving them to the back room, spreading the rest out along the walls so there was space in the middle for them all to dance but there were still places to retreat. Then he set up the karaoke machine and the speaker hook up on the stage so he'd be able to play music from his computer or someone could sing if they wanted. Then he'd gone about setting up finger foods and lots of drinks on the service counter.
It was...cozy; spread out but not too much, lights dim but not dark. If everyone on the station showed up it might be a bit more like a can of sardines than a dance, but he supposed they could just spill in to the food court if that were the case. But, he thought it'd be nice for the ones that seemed interested in coming.
Finally, around 7, he opened the doors back up and started a playlist on his computer. It was just a mix of pop from all different times, and he sat nearby with a plate of food and drink for himself. He would be able to take requests or help anyone set up for karaoke, and be a designated adult to keep an eye on everyone, just in case anyone wanted to drop off the kids instead of staying with them. He chuckled a little when I Wanna Dance With Somebody happened to be the first song that came on.
"I guess that's apt." he commented to the gray "cat" sitting nearby, observing the room in a way that was a bit beyond cat. "Ready for a party?" he asked her, tossing a bit of turkey from one of the finger sandwiches on his plate in her direction, getting a pleasant mrow in return. "Yeah, me too. Should be fun."
