"I know Bill better. He's friends with my niece Abra, and my dad teaches him English. My dad's an author, so Bill asked him for help," Dan told him before Eddie's sudden panic over the clown hit him and he had to put a hand to his temple to ground himself.
"Hey, no, no, the clown, Pennywise, he's not here. I've seen him, he tried to mess with my head, made me see dead kids," Dan said quickly, hoping that the details would help Eddie realize that Dan knew what the kid was talking about and that he wasn't bullshitting him. "Gray suit, orange pom-poms and a horrible voice, right? He can't leave Derry, he's not here. I know you've just met me and you've got no reason to believe me, but it's true, okay?"
Bill could tell Eddie what had happened through the last door, he decided. It wasn't his story to tell, after all. "Do you want me to call Bill, so you can talk to him while we're walking?" he offered instead, and held up his phone. Remembering how his younger self had reacted to the thing, he thought he'd best explain it as well. "This is a phone, but I know it doesn't look much like one. Bill's got one like it, so if you want me to call him, I can."
