Richie should have been surprised when Bill hugged him, he hadn't really noticed anyone come in, but he wasn't. He knew he was there and who it was so he didn't react right away. He just let Bill hold him, one of his hands coming up to hold on to Bill's arm, until the shaking stopped and the sobs eased and he felt like he could breathe again.
"Shit." he sighed, letting go of Bill. He scrubbed his hand over his face, and then fixed his glasses. "I didn't mean to...I thought you were asleep." he admit, his voice quiet and rough and not sounding much like Richie.
He wasn't embarrassed, for Bill to see him crying; he didn't think so at least. But, he still felt like he'd been caught doing something indecent. Like even thinking the things he had been was something he should be ashamed of, that his feelings and emotions were meant to be locked up and unacknowledged, left alone to rot. (Like Eddie.) It wasn't in Derry anymore. He wasn't in Derry anymore. Everyone had gone home and back to their lives, back to prosper and success and love and even though he was here in this weird place now he had no reason to obsess still. The others were alright, he should be too.
"Just a...bad dream I guess." It wasn't really a lie, he just hadn't been asleep yet.
