Dan caught flickers of Abra's thoughts about his mom, and sat up straighter. It reminded him of when he'd just arrived in Space the first time and he'd accidentally gotten a couple of his dad's memories, and one of them had been of his mom after she'd survived her cancer. "Me too, but maybe I'll get lucky some day, and we'll be here at the same time," Dan replied, and exhaled his lungful of smoke.
"Happy, huh? That'll be nice," he added. It could have been sarcastic but he was being genuine. The thought of being happy at some point in the future? That was good. He didn't get a lot of that. "Are you happy here? Is my dad?"
