Dan nodded at Abra's response, although the news about there being a campsite there gave him shivers down his back, and he couldn't help the shudder it built into. "Evil, yeah. It... It did stuff to my dad. And to, uh, to... to me."
He sat up straight, restless now as as he tried to talk about the place that still haunted him, twenty years after it burned down. He wished for a drink, something strong and nasty that would burn and get him drunk as quickly as possible, and settled on filling his lungs with cigarette smoke instead. He rubbed at his neck where Mrs Massey's fingers had clamped round his throat, and forced himself to tell Abra his thoughts.
"I think. I, uh. I think my dad had the Shine otherwise that place couldn't have done what it did. It, it never, it didn't get my mom, you know? So I guess, I knew he had it. He just didn't use it, not that I knew of."
