Who? Ciaran & Crowley Where? A corridor on wheel 3. When? Yesterday evening. What? A priest & a demon. Open? Ask first Rating? TBC
Despite being on a space station, possibly in a different universe, and being surrounded by Living Gods, Ciaran was clinging perhaps more firmly than ever to his own faith. It felt like a warm blanket. It felt like a point of stability in a world that was spinning out of control. It felt like home.
So, while he was not wearing the shirt and collar 24/7, he was making a point of still wearing it when he considered himself 'on duty', or perhaps more accurately, when he wanted to show himself to be obviously available for counsel or blessings and so on. Just as those on the station required a physician on duty to care for their bodies, so he felt that they required a priest on duty to care for their souls. Perhaps that was why he was there.
He was continuing to pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily, although he was changing it to refer to those on the station of course. He had just been coming to the end of his evening prayer, when he opened his eyes and noticed it seemed as though the lights had dimmed, like they were running on a backup generator or something. He finished up a little hurriedly, closed over his little black prayer book, and tucked it snugly into the pocket of his jacket. The rosary went into his inside pocket, and then he stepped out of of the prayer room and into the corridor.
He started walking in the general direction of his own apartment, but with a little more caution than he might have usually had. After a couple of minutes walking, the lights flickered. He paused, they went back to dim, and he proceeded for another minute or so. They flickered again, and this time the whole corridor was plunged into darkness.
"Ah shit..." he mumbled. He stayed still for a minute or two, but when it was clearly not going to come back on, he realised he was being an idiot. He reached for his phone, and fumbled a moment before turning on the torch.
