John paused, standing just behind Sam, and a sinister smile lifted his lips. It quickly faded, his mask coming up to take its place. That moment of hesitation. John wanted to hesitate too. Was this really the right thing to do? Trick the poor sod into possibly becoming a containment vessel for a Demon? Not that it would ever come to that. Would it? If he was going to summon a minor Demon and they could contain it or banish it straight back to Hell, then there would be nothing to worry about. He was certain he wasn't going to have another Gary on his hands or his consciousness. And besides, all of this was a good way to see what Sam was capable of, wasn't it?
Once it was done and out the way, he could go back to figuring out what to do about the ghosts. Before they became a problem somewhere down the line. But ensuring that Hell could have no effect on them was a good start. He half expected Manny to show up, freezing time and space, just for a chat. But he never did show up. It was freeing and yet concerning.
"Good, me old son" he said with some enthusiasm and grit, patting Sam heavily on the shoulder twice. "I'll be in touch when everything's ready" he said, before grabbing the containment vessel, and the last of his belongings.
