"Yeah, sure," Dan replied, with a quick sideways glance at Ciaran. "There are people here who can talk like that, and do. A lot. Me and my dad, of course, and my niece. And there's Ben and Kytana and her family. And there's a couple of other little groups as well. Everyone has different ways of talking like that, but we all seem to be able to communicate with each other if we go outside of our groups." Dan was thinking quickly as he spoke, gesturing with his hands every so often to try and help with his reasoning. He figured explaining about Loki and how Ben was actually Obi-Wan and Kytana was from four thousand years ago, that all could wait until Ciaran was a couple of whiskeys into his drinking.
"And," he continued, "everyone should have basic shields. Can you walk through crowds without getting random thoughts in your head? I still can't manage that... but if you're not used to being around other people who can manage to talk like that, then why would you know to block anything out? Which could be why you're hearing everyone and also talking to everyone. That makes sense, right? Yeah."
