"You died?" he asked. A look of concern crossed his face. Not exactly concern for her but something else. She didn't look very dead. But then again by all rights he should have been dead as well. He took another drag from his cigarette and thought a moment.
"So how come you're alive here?" he asked after a brief silence. "Nab yourself a nice healthy new body or did you just get lucky?" he asked with a slight smirk on his face. Something about what she said tied things a bit more together, although for perhaps reasons he didn't truly understand. Was she some sort of spirit? A ghost that needed a home, unwilling to release their grip on the mortal world.
John stubbed the cigarette out before it was done and stood, arms opened out, palms facing upwards. Closing his eyes, he focused on the subject before him. “Five elements of the earth, elements that weave the fabric of the universe, I respect and invoke thee. From the six directions, converge here. Lift all concealments. Per spatium temporis et ego rogabo aperi mihi, et ego in te ad Morrigan oculos meos in veritate. Reveal thy truth. Spirit come forward, reveal thy true face. ”.
As he finished his incantation, his palms turned upwards and his eyes opened. It was a spell to lift concealments. To show truth. One that had been somewhat adapted for his situation. But he wanted to know if there truly was a spirit hiding within the woman he had spent so much time talking to him. The spell wouldn't hurt if successful.
