"N-no, sir," Bill replied, shaking his head as he spoke. "I'm t-t-tr-trying t-to b-buh-build a s-s-s-set of b-b-bike j-j-j-juh-juh-j-j-j" he said, then did the same thing as Bertie, switching words to trick the stutter "ramps, b-but I'm in n-nuh-no huh-hurry."
Bill's parents had no time for him any more. Georgie's death had broken his family, and Bill didn't know how to react around adults any more; he wasn't used to it, especially not when they seemed to enjoy his company. Was he meant to make his excuses and go on his way, or what? He liked talking to Bertie already, but he didn't want to annoy the man.
