When Dr Morgan left the room, Edward closed over his eyes for a moment and then opened them again, letting himself get used to the way the prosthetic reacted to the light. He'd been told to practice a few things like that, but also to rest when he needed to, and to let Henry know right away if he started to get a headache or any other pains.
A few goes at blinking and refocusing, and then the door swung open again and he looked up to find a young woman smiling at him, someone clearly glad to see him awake and well. He could guess who she was, and he felt a bit of a smile playing on his lips to mirror hers. But when she spoke, and he could match the voice he knew that face he had never seen, the little smile grew into one of real joy.
"Ah, there you are. Always a pleasure to see you, Marian," he smiled, laughing softly with a sort of glee at actually being able to say it and mean it.
