Marian had been there when he had been first admitted. She had waited patiently, sort of. Though she was a little anxious. She knew that Dr. Morgan knew what he was doing, but she'd made the horrible mistake of looking up videos and other information... And she knew there was always some risk. So the sewing she had brought with her didn't exactly get done. And she was very grateful to Darcy for taking in Robin, she knew her fretting would only agitate him and she hoped that he was being a good lad.
She was there in waiting as he was wheeled to the OR and back. The hours separating had inched by. And seemed to stretch on as she waited for some news. But the exclamation was enough her sewing was dropped to the floor, as she rose to her feet. But she did not leave waiting. She didn't want to be underfoot. She knew Edward's voice anywhere. And most of the anxiety drained out of her upon hearing it.
After a moment or two passed, she cleaned up her sewing. Balling it up so that it would be out of the way should anyone else need to use the waiting before she came back to collect. It was all about waiting until the doctor was out of the room, she nodded to Morgan when he crossed.
Marian told herself she wouldn't run. She told herself that she would walk like a lady. But that didn't hold out more than a step or two, she ran to his room, thankful that she wore a trousers styled to look like a skirt. When she pushed open his door, her smile was instantaneous.
