A little later in the afternoon
It had been a bit of an odd morning, but in a way it was probably good that they had already RSVP-ed to the Sully gathering. It gave them a distraction, and sometimes just getting on with things, and surrounding oneself with family was the best thing for it.
Ashley had made some sort of sensible dish for the pot luck, but Darcy had very different ideas from his wife about what one should bring to a party. Eventually she'd had to let him have his way, and so he had shown up and presented the host very proudly with a whole pineapple.
They'd mingled a little, talked to different people, and really for someone who was awful at social gatherings, Darcy had managed not to screw up or humiliate his dear wife even once. He was quite pleased with himself. Now he found himself without her at his elbow, and he could only hope that he didn't suddenly fall to pieces without her. He stuck to the sides of the room for now, and quietly sipped at a cup of Tommy's 'quite excellent' coffee.
